How to write an about page (and asking the right questions)

Attendees will learn how to go about writing about themselves and creating examples for themselves or their brands.

This is a writing workshop, so a laptop or notebook and pen is prefered.

Outline and Resources

Define the brand and the purpose you want to convey.

  • Facilitators can give their examples.
  • Give a quick intro about yourself and define what you want to convey
  • Who are you? Freelancer, service, product, and differences.

Structure and Content

  • Concise introduction
  • Value proposition
  • Achievements (don’t go overboard here) 
  • For Brands (Values, Vision) – applies if they are authentic

Tone and Voice:

  • Authentic to yourself
  • Professional tone (Grammar, spellcheck)
  • Engagement (next steps, action, etc)
  • Objective tone. Write specifics about yourself. 

Tips for Writing About Yourself in the Third Person

  • Where 3rd person is used
  • When to use first person (personal profile, Instagram)
  • Same profile but in first person and third person.
