Call for Facilitators

As you might have heard, we’re doing WordCamp Pune 2024 a little bit differently. We’re completely replacing traditional sessions—where a speaker on a stage addresses to an audience—with hands-on workshops.

The emphasis is on participant interactivity through well-outlined, 60-90 minute workshops that lead each participant to tangible & pre-defined take-aways. We definite a “take-away” as a skill or new learning that a participant can replicate outside of the WordCamp.

Over our last few Organizers’ meetups, we’ve penciled in workshop topics based on needs we’ve identified in our local community:

  1. How to write an about page (and asking the right questions)
  2. An introduction to full site editing (FSE)
  3. An introduction to WP CLI & custom commands
  4. All About Accessibility
  5. Creating Your Freelancer Toolkit
  6. TBD

While we’re pretty decided about these topics, that’s not to say that we cannot tweak them. If you have an interesting perspective that lends itself well to a beginner audience in a workshop format, we’re all ears! Include your unique take on the topic along with your experience while submitting your application.

Expectations & Responsibilities

  • As a facilitator, you will work to pass on your knowledge in a patient, fun & methodical way. You will have to do so within a team comprising of other facilitators.
  • Over the next few weeks leading up to WCPune, you will need to work with your team to streamline the workshop and distribute responsibilities. This would happen over video call(s), Google Docs & the WCPune Slack.
  • Work with WCPune organizers to fill out and maintain a lesson plan template that includes:
    • Workshop summary
    • Objective take-away(s) for participants
    • Workshop input outline & resource links
    • Team responsibilities during the session

While this might be more intensive than you might expect, we feel this approach will go a long way toward increasing participant engagement, which is the central goal of WCPune 2024.

If you’d like to sign up for multiple workshops, please submit the form multiple times, once for each topic.
