During\u00a0Last WordCamp Pune<\/a>, we closed “Call for Sponsor” before the event.<\/p>\n
Thanks to all WordCamp Pune\u00a0sponsors<\/a>, we manage to reach our minimum sponsorship goal\u00a0for this WordCamp too.<\/p>\n
So we will be\u00a0closing “Call for Sponsors<\/a>” by\u00a0Thursday, Jan 5, midnight (IST)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
If you\u00a0are planning to sponsor\u00a0WordCamp Pune, please send your Sponsorship requests before deadline.<\/p>\n
If you have already sent a request but did not hear back from us, please bump the email thread or contact us<\/a>.<\/p>\n
We\u00a0have replied to each\u00a0sponsorship inquiry already. So no sponsor should be waiting to hear from us. In fact, it’s we\u00a0who are waiting\u00a0to hear from some of the sponsors! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n
Why close call for sponsors?<\/h2>\n
You may wonder why any event needs to close call for sponsorship!<\/p>\n
Isn’t more sponsorship better? Why not accept\u00a0sponsorship even on last day!<\/p>\n
The fact takes days for a sponsorship application to full process. Following\u00a0is a rough overview.<\/p>\n
Every\u00a0Sponsorship Application…<\/h3>\n
First, every sponsorship\u00a0application is reviewed manually where we verify if the\u00a0sponsor is\u00a0in line with WordCamp guidelines, the key being if they love and respect GPL as we do!<\/p>\n
Once it passes moderation, there are emails exchanged; invoices sent and payments wired. See WordCamps has always been cashless!<\/p>\n
Finally, approved sponsors\u00a0get\u00a0some benefits. Organizers need time to pass on benefits like blog posts<\/a>, social media mentions, free tickets and much more.<\/p>\n
As you see, there is a lot of work to do with sponsorship applications itself! So even fastest application will take minimum two days.<\/p>\n
On another end…<\/h3>\n
A WordCamp needs many things!<\/p>\n
The venue being biggest requirement gets sorted first.\u00a0But things such as food, swags, and\u00a0wifi are kept open ended.<\/p>\n
We as organisers maintain a list of plans\/quotes\u00a0for such things, but the final decision is often based on funds available for the event.<\/p>\n
Now as you can imagine, we can’t\u00a0place orders for everything on last day; we need to make decisions as early as possible.<\/p>\n
In our\u00a0case, we are planning to close all such decisions by this weekend. That would be exactly one week before the WordCamp Pune 2017.<\/p>\n
So we\u00a0are requesting all prospective sponsors to\u00a0contribute as early as possible, so we can\u00a0utilize your funds in best possible way!<\/p>\n
It’s still not late!<\/h3>\n
We are yet to place final orders few things including foods & refreshment, wifi plan.<\/p>\n
So if you send your sponsorship within next 2-days, it will help\u00a0WordCamp Pune.<\/p>\n
What about the surplus fund?<\/h3>\n
Yep. There is a possibility that we might end up with the surplus fund. But\u00a0that will be passed to the next WordCamp in India as per guidelines<\/a>.<\/p>\n
So your sponsorship will help a WordCamp in India and WordPress community as a whole.<\/p>\n
